Family Reunion Venue in Texas

3 min read
\n

The hard part of planning a family reunion isn’t the menu. It’s finding one place that relatives from different states, age groups, and schedules will actually say yes to.

\n\n\n\n

Then comes the next challenge: picking a place that works for all of them once they get there.

The One-Location Problem

\n\n\n\n

Most venues solve one part of the equation. A lake house has the scenery but no activities. A resort has activities but no privacy — you’re sharing the pool with strangers and eating in a hotel restaurant. A rental home has privacy but no amenities, and everyone ends up driving 20 minutes to find something to do.

\n\n\n\n

The result is a reunion where the family is constantly splitting up. Kids want to swim. Teenagers want something with a screen. The adults want to sit somewhere quiet and actually talk. Someone is always in the car.

What “Under One Roof” Actually Looks Like

\n\n\n\n

Rusted Oaks Estate was built for exactly this. a private ranch outside Abilene, Texas. A 10,000 square foot custom home that sleeps 21. And enough on-site amenities that nobody needs to leave for the entire weekend.

\n\n\n\n\n
  • Resort pool with waterslide and diving board — for the kids who won’t get out
  • Private movie theater — for the night when everyone’s finally tired
  • Full game room: pool, foosball, ping pong, air hockey, shuffleboard, life-size games
  • Lighted tennis court and basketball goal
  • Private baseball field with bleachers — an actual family game, not a fantasy
  • Heated hot tub — for the grandparents who earned it
  • Full chef’s kitchen — fully equipped, two stove tops, two ovens
  • Outdoor kitchen and grill on the back porch
  • Formal dining and bar areas for the people who just want to sit and talk
\n\n\n\n

Six bedrooms. All with private bathrooms. Everyone gets a bed. No one’s sleeping on an air mattress in the living room wondering if this was a mistake.

Why West Texas Works

\n\n\n\n

Rusted Oaks sits 15 minutes south of Abilene, deep enough into the Texas countryside that you feel genuinely removed from everything — but close enough that you’re not stranded. The Dallas-Fort Worth metro is about 2.5 hours east. Lubbock is about 2 hours north. It’s a real drive for most families, which is part of the point: everyone commits to the trip. Nobody’s leaving early for an “obligation.”

The private ranch setting means no neighbors, no shared fences, no noise complaints. Your family takes over the whole property. What happens at the reunion stays at the reunion.

The Logistics That Actually Matter

\n\n\n\n
  • Sleeping capacity: Up to 21 guests in the base rate. Larger groups can be accommodated — contact us to discuss.
  • Check-in / Check-out: 2pm check-in, noon checkout. Early check-in is usually available.
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights.
  • Pre-screening: Every reservation is confirmed directly. This is how a property like this stays in the condition you see in the photos.

How to Book

\n\n\n\n

There’s no instant booking. You reach out, we get back to you, and work out dates and details from there. It’s intentional — this is a private home, not a hotel.

\n\n\n\n

If you want the family together in one private place (not spread across hotel rooms), send us your dates and group size. We’ll walk through options with you.
